INTRODUCING.... COMMERCIAL ALLIANCE

For roughly the past 15 years or so Mainstreet Organization of REALTORS® (MORe) has had a committee dedicated to commercial real estate. Over time the name has changed within the past 5 years or so being call Commercial Investment Committee. Each year the committee would host seminars which provided insight and tools to operate in the commercial real estate business. The main audience these seminars focused on were those residential practitioners that wished to get into commercial real estate or had done a few transactions. 

 

On December 5, 2014 a new era at MORe was kicked off and the introduction of COMMERCIAL ALLIANCE. With this new name change comes a new revised focus on commercial real estate and the building of a community of commercial practitioners. This community will reach those commercial real estate brokers that are affiliated with MORe, those affiliated with other area REALTOR® associations and those commercial real estate brokers that are not REALTORS®. Bringing us all together through beneficial seminars and panels will create a business and networking opportunity that will benefit and enrich all of our careers. 

 

Commercial Forecast Breakfast Recap

Commercial Alliance was fortunate to have Mr. Byran Gay of Choose DuPage be our guest speaker at this year's forecast breakfast. Mr. Gay offered insight into the happening in DuPage county as well as what was occurring throughout the greater area. One interesting figure was that with all the hype of companies leaving Illinois only 2% of the job losses in Illinois is from businesses leaving the state. Of course perception is everything and Illinois's politicians still have much to do to sway opinion as well as work on incentive programs to attract and maintain corporations to Illinois.

 

One of this decade's largest projects was also discussed by Mr. Gay, the expansion of the Elgin/O'Hare expressway. Upon completion this will have a major impact on the surrounding communities and the commercial real estate industry. With over 65 thousand new jobs, 50 expressway miles and reduction in travel time for transport and residents this will have a benefit for years and years.
