My 2015 #CRE In Review
My 2015 started with a shake up in my career as well as in my personal life. I shared some of that in my previous post "Year of New Beginnings." Little did I know that yes, 2015 would truly be a year of new beginnings on so many levels. I joined a new brokerage firm, became CEO of a commercial real estate tech company and served as Chair of the Commercial Alliance, commercial committee for MainStreet Organization of REALTORS.
In February I joined Suburban Real Estate Services, Inc. in Lisle as Vice President. This was a great move to be working with some great brokers that have a handle of the East-West Suburban market. Feels good to be working with a team of brokers again where I can discuss different transactions and get different perspectives. Additionally the firm provides additional services that I can bring to the table to assist my clients.
In July, I had the opportunity to become CEO of the commercial real estate tech company, Commercial Connected, LLC. The founders, Matt Chapdelaine, Nate Glaiser and Brian Story, believed I could add value with being a broker for the past 13 years in commercial real estate plus my knowledge and understanding of technology. This was a great unexpected opportunity for me. Commercial Connected was accepted into the Elmspring Real Estate Accelerator located at 1871 in Chicago. This 3 month accelerator trained me on being a CEO of a start up tech company from handling financial, business pitch and development and speaking with investors. At the end of the accelerator I had to give a 10 minute presentation to a room full of investors. Let's just say I was pretty nervous that night but from every report I did a pretty good job.
Currently still the CEO of Commercial Connected I am working to gain traction for our mobile app which allows buyers and tenants to find commercial real estate properties for sale or lease all for free. Our platform is designed for the buyer and tenant giving them the tools to never miss an opportunity. With only 2 real commercial real estate apps available in the mobile markets, our photo-based swipe right/swipe left technology is bringing commercial real estate to buyers and tenant's fingertips.
In September I began my second year as Chair of Commercial Alliance, the commercial committee of MainStreet Organization of REALTORS. Being a part of MORe has been a great experience and I am very excited about all the great things Commercial Alliance is doing. 2016 will be a great year for us, especially as we kick of the year with our 2016 Commercial Real Estate Forecast Breakfast featuring presenter Mr. William Strauss of the Federal Reserve of Chicago.
Also, I was honored to be named as one of the Who's Who in Commercial Real Estate for the Chicago Suburbs from the Daily Herald Business Ledger. You can read about this great honor received here.
So, basically 2015 has been a great success in many ways for me. I want to thank all of the businesses and landlords I have had the pleasure to work with over the past 13 years as they are the reason for my success. I look forward to 2016 and what new opportunities it may bring. One just never knows!
